Headspace is a brilliant website and downloadable application to help you with finding calm in your mind.
This section of Gemstone and Tarot is for a number of items that I have personally used on my journey and have found them highly beneficial. Headspace is no exception!
What is Headspace?
With 20 million downloads across 190 countries, the Headspace app features the voice of Andy Puddicombe, a former Buddhist monk. Each day, it delivers a new guided meditation based on teachings that Puddicombe learned during the 10 years he spent studying meditation and mindfulness in monasteries across Asia. Each of the packs is supported by a host of content, including animations, articles and videos in the playful, quirky style that has made Headspace instantly recognizable. Along with daily meditations, Headspace also offers meditation Singles for users short on time and SOS sessions to support subscribers in those meltdown moments.
The first series, The Basics, is completely free and teaches the basics of meditation and mindfulness. After that, via subscription, Headspace offers more than 550 hours of original content tailored to the specific needs of each user. Meditation has been proven to help with everything from dealing with stress or anxiety to eating healthier and sleeping better. Click here to get started with Headspace.
Why I Recommend Headspace
I had heard of the Headspace app that you can download onto your mobile phone and it will provide the basics of mindfulness meditation in ten sessions for free.
Personally, I haven’t signed up for more sessions as I have found other applications for my journey of learning and at this moment in time, I cannot justify the monthly cost. I must point out though, if I had the money I would sign up and these are the reasons why: –
- Headspace app will set you a reminder to practice meditation daily. This is very important as you need to put time aside to calm your mind on a daily basis and the Headspace app will tell you why. It’s a perfect introduction to the concept of mediation and mindfulness
- The Headspace app comes with informative and easy to understand animations. It perfectly described my anxious mind using the example of cars travelling on a main road and each car is a thought. Download the Headspace app or read Andy Puddicombe’s book featured below and see for yourself
- Andy Puddicombe has a wealth of experience and knowledge. He knows what he’s talking about. I read his book, The Headspace Guide to Meditation & Mindfulness prior to downloading the Headspace app and I loved every word in it.
